When we do have a weekend together at home, often each one is busy doing their own thing.Take an hour or so to do a creative fun activity together as a family every week. Take a walk together, prepare a meal together or make something together depending on what your family enjoys.
Below is one idea to spend time together having fun, bonding and making memories, especially for those with younger kids!
Goop is colourful thick goo squeezed out of a bottle that can be used to create easy, stand-out paintings.
– 4 cups of Flour
– 1 cup of sugar
– 1 cup of salt
– About 2 cups of water
– 1 set of poster paints for colouring
Sift the flour and mix it with salt and sugar. Gradually add water, stirring with a whisk or wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and about the consistency of cake batter. Divide the mixture into small batches and transfer to small containers. Add different colours to each stirring gradually until you get a strong colour. Pour it into a gum bottle or any other bottle which has a nozzle to squeeze out the colour on to the paper. The goop should flow out in a smooth line. If it doesn’t then check the nozzle size and goop consistency. Make a set of different colours and keep the bottles securely fastened.
Just squeeze the goop out of the bottle into the paper to paint. You can also use combs, forks, toothbrushes, etc., to make interesting patterns.
The process of making goop itself can be a fun family activity. Once the goop is ready, take the biggest sheet of paper and set out to make a family fun painting. Alternately, give each family member a separate sheet and see what they come up with. You can add to the fun by making it theme based.
Whatever you come up with, put in the date and names, and hang it up as a memory of your fun time together.
Make sure you are in a space that you don’t mind becoming messy and you have enough newspapers and old cloths to clean up. Now, go ahead have fun with your little ones!
